The General Election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Whether you vote early, by mail, or on Election Day, making a plan now will help ensure your voice is heard.

To vote in the General Election, your registration must be received by October 24. You can register online, by mail, or in person using the instructions from the New York State Board of Elections.

Already registered? Take a moment to confirm your address, voting district, and polling place using the state’s Voter Lookup tool.

Decide how you'll vote

Vote early: Early voting runs from October 24 through November 1. You do not need to apply in advance. Nassau County will post voting locations and hours on its Board of Elections website.

Vote by mail: Any registered voter may request an early mail ballot—no reason is needed. Absentee ballots are also available for voters who cannot vote in person because they will be away, have an illness or disability, provide care for someone, or meet another state-approved reason.

You can request a ballot through New York’s online application portal. Online and mailed applications must be received by October 24. In-person applications may be submitted through November 2, but applying early is always best.

When your ballot arrives, follow the instructions carefully and remember to sign and date the security envelope. Mail it as early as possible. It must be postmarked by November 3 and received by November 10.

You may also return your ballot to the Nassau County Board of Elections by 9 p.m. on November 3, to a Nassau County early-voting site between October 24 and November 1, or to any Nassau County poll site on Election Day by 9 p.m.

If you have already been issued an early mail or absentee ballot but later decide to vote in person, you may vote by affidavit ballot, but not on a voting machine.

Before Election Day

A few quick steps can make voting easier:

  • Confirm your registration and polling place.

  • Choose whether you will vote early, by mail, or on Election Day.

  • Review the candidate list and sample ballot when available.

  • If voting by mail, send your ballot early and track its status online.

On Tuesday, November 3, polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The David Smith campaign encourages every eligible District 15 resident to make a plan—and to help friends, family, and neighbors make theirs. Every voice matters, and every vote counts.
